Since the first GTA V trailer was initially revealed back in November, many users have attempted to recreate it using GTA San Andreas. One of the first to gain popularity was one made by CreativityZone which we posted about last year. The newest effort we have is from GTARLde, check his re-creation out below and let us know what you think.

And another one from last year which you may not have seen as we didn't post it at the time, from user coollertmb:

Tell us your thoughts in the forums and let us know if there's any other good remakes we've missed.

As promised, Rockstar have today opened up the Crews section of the all-new Social Club. Being part of a crew will allow you to reap various XP benefits when playing Max Payne 3 multiplayer, and the good news is crews will carry on through to GTA V.

You can now create or join your own rough and tumble CREW in preparation for slaughter in Max Payne 3 Multiplayer. Hit the CREW UP button on your profile page and you can browse Featured Crews looking for recruits or invite your mates to join your ranks to blast through Gang Wars and Team Deathmatch together, racking up XP and starting online Feud beefs come next week. Every Social Club member can belong to up to 5 Crews, so form your allegiances wisely.

The CREWS page also contains info on the in-game benefits Crew members get in online Multiplayer. You'll receive an XP boost whenever you fight as part of a Crew or battle against rival Crews and their members online. This means you'll effectively unlock bigger and better weapons more quickly than if you're flying solo. And because this feature is linked through the Social Club, you can represent your Crew across PS3, Xbox 360 and PC.

Also featuring as part of the crews section is a "robust" emblem editor which you can use to create a unique avatar for your members to wear:

The Emblem Editor is packed with thousands of shapes, colors and icons and tools to create limitless possibilities to properly represent your squad and to intimidate, psyche out or stupefy the competition.

As mentioned above, you can be a member of up to 5 crews at any time, any crews made between now and next Tuesday (May 15th) will receive the distinction of "Founder Crew", giving you a special two-stripe designation on your in-game crew tag, as well as a number of other special benefits and perks which Rockstar have not yet announced.

Feel free to join our official The GTA Place crew, we're open to anyone who wants to join. Yeah, go ahead and laugh at our pathetic use of the emblem editor, we'll improve it soon! If you've requested to join and I haven't accepted you yet then reply to this news post and I'll add you in to the crew.

Finally, keep an eye on our forums. In preparation for GTA V we'll be modifying our multiplayer subforums a little, including those for past GTA IV and games previous to that.

socialclub_update_may2012_th.jpg

Last night, Rockstar Games unveiled a huge overhaul to the Social Club. To summarise, the update brings custom user profiles, new friends system with public and direct messaging, the ability to link your Facebook and Twitter accounts, notifications and much more.

In more detail:

YOUR SOCIAL CLUB PROFILE PAGE – Get in there and personalize your own Social Club profile page, complete with status updates, a display of your recent stats and accomplishments across your linked Social Club enabled games, and proper Friend linking with a Wall that updates your Social Club activity and lets you cheer and jeer your mates here at Social Club, as well as easily plan multiplayer sessions or whatever you'd like.

UPDATE YOUR ACTIVITY FEED – Keep tabs on all your Friends latest accomplishments via your real-time activity feed. With the release of Max Payne 3, you'll be able to let Friends know each time you've unlocked a Trophy/Achievement, throw down the gauntlet for a multiplayer session, or see when a friend has added a new soldier to their CREW (come Wednesday). Head to your profile page now at the main Social Club dashboard to get started.

ADD YOUR FRIENDS – You can search and add Friends that are current Social Club members and also find, import and invite mates from your Facebook, Twitter and gaming accounts too. Whether it's to join you to attend the latest Official Social Club Multiplayer Event or to make sure you've got strength in numbers for your Crew - you can now easily recruit up.

LINK IN & LOG IN WITH FACEBOOK OR TWITTER – You can also link in and display your other profiles from Facebook and Twitter (as well as your PlayStation Network IDs and XBL Gamertags) direct to your page and starting Wednesday, you'll be able to share Social Club activity from your Wall to those networks. For new members, we’ve even enabled Social Club account creation (and sign-in for existing members) using your Facebook or Twitter username and password.

Crews will be launching this Wednesday where you can pre-register and invite one another to join your crew ready for Max Payne 3 multiplayer, and a while later, eventually, GTA V. The full details and screenshots of this update can be read on the Social Club's news posting.

So head on over to the Social Club and update your profiles. I linked my Facebook and Twitter accounts and not a single friend was found, what are you all waiting for!

A couple of weeks ago, me and a number of other webmasters were invited to New York City to experience Rockstar's upcoming masterpiece, Max Payne 3. I've written up an article detailing the happenings at the event, as well as my hands-on impressions of the game. I've tried to keep mission/story/multiplayer details as general and vague as possible, so I don't spoil much for you. If you have any questions feel free to ask here in the forums, I'll do my best to answer what I can, if I can.

Read my impressions: Max Payne 3 Fansite Event Hands-on Impressions

I should also point out that two of our staff members were also at the event:

  • Gerard, who runs Grand Theft Wiki - you can read his review of the game here
  • rockstarrem, who runs our Max Payne sister site Payne Killers - you can see his thoughts over there
