Take Two have (finally) published a press release announcing Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories for the PlayStation 2. A move which ends months of speculation from fans.

As far as release dates go, Rockstar have said "the title will be available in North America on March 6, 2007 and will be on European retail shelves on March 9, 2007." A price has not been set for the game. We'll be bringing you the latest news and updates regarding what will most likely be Grand Theft Auto's last outing on the PS2, Vice City Stories, here at TGTAP.

I knew it would come out to ps2. I wonder if they will make little changes like what they did to LCS, all new trees and a new sky.

Wow, talk about a fast change in the news. Expected, but still good to see, nice find Chris, as always your first in the GTA community to have the news. Congrads.

I like the idea, it opens the game to a much wider audience I know 8+ people with playstation 2's but I know only 2 people with a psp. As long as they make graphics better and work out the glitches i'm very happy with the port.

I think this tells us a lot more then just that VCS is being released on Playstation2. It tells us too that Rockstar are still strongly on Sony's side. We thought with the downloadable content for the Xbox 360 port of GTA4 that they had left Sony's side. This to me says that haven't.

I think GTA will always be with sony primarily, but I think that that xbox will begin to play a bigger role starting with GTAIV Vice City Stories has no hope of showing up on xbox.

I think that Exclusive content may be already in the PS3 GTAIV Game.

I'd say thats a given yes, maybe even so there may be more exclusive content for the PS3 we just don't know about yet.

While it could be possible, i wouldn't say it's a given yes. It's possible.

well if you think about it. Maybe they gave the 360 the extra content because it couldn't fit on the disc, but it could in the PS3. My opinion.

They have about the same harddrive space..I think its more because the ps3 has a better program for buying things right form the consol.

great news! There was no way they could have left out the ps2 owners, because it'll earn them a bundle of money for those who don't already own it (such as myself). Thanks for the news Chris :)

Umm... mate, you really need to read the TITLE and CONTENT of this ARTICLE.

The keywords are: VICE, CITY, STORIES and PS2.

If you're referring to Charger's post, then I think it's clear he has posted in the wrong topic. Though I can't figure out where he meant to post that anyway. :/

Meh, Just like LCS, It's Instead VCS on PS2, I think they might fix the bugs in the game, since there were LOADS of them In the PSP Version.

Ok thanks for helping with that. Back onto the topic of VCS on ps2, does anyone know if extra features will be added like new missions???

No, it'll be the same game like LCS for PSP and PS2. Rockstar won't change any of the gameplay experience but thy might take out some of those overrated glitches.

They are too much occupied with GTA IV to change VCS.

Great work Chris tracking this one down! Completely unsurprised by the eventual VCS port to PS2, but relieved the chirade of 'will they; won't they' is over - it was becoming ridiculous... Happy to be getting the big screen experience, with (hopeful) improvements and fixes from the PSP version. Any ideas about release timings outside of Europe and the US?

Cheers
